Dr. Bathini received a Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore India while successfully completing a research project in Synthetic and Structural Studies in Terpenoids. He has worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow in Research Institute for Medicine and Chemistry, Cambridge, MA, USA and University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada. At the University of Alberta, Dr. Bathini worked in the design and synthesis of sequence-specific DNA minor groove binding drugs under the guidance of Prof J.W. Lown. He has spent over 20 years working with pharmaceutical companies in Canada with involvement in drug discovery for infectious diseases, as well as lead generation, lead identification, lead optimization and process development projects for antifungal, antibacterial and anticancer agents. His work has been published in 23 publications and he has received 2 patents for his work.
